(D)Evolution of the Fiber-Optic Class?

Ok folks, gentle readers and those that subscribe to this blog at http://www.joelwlamoure.com and diligently read this that I apologize for being late (again) this week as its been a time myself (yet again) of stopping and reflecting and wondering what to write. What is important and what makes the biggest difference at the end of the day. Today is Victoria Day and tried to figure out how to fit in Canadiana and family/fun/fireworks into the mix but just couldn’t work it through. I have had though great opportunities to watch and learn from people this week that had no intention up front of teaching me anything, and from those that did. Actually sometimes those are the most impactful learnings I find.

The past 3 weeks from my radio show “Prescribing Spiritual HOPE” in a bit of a self-imposed reflective exile I have been able to step back and reflect on the things that drive life, the people that we meet, the items that we have, the gestures that we make and the adventures that we have and share. Really at the end of the day what is important and what is not. Assumptions that we make and how they create the next steps in the running dialogue of the life that is and even more how these subsequently translate into positives and negatives in ours and others’ lives. I will SO agree that everyone sees things in a different light and what is important to some are useless pieces of shiat to others. My goal is not to impose or force my will on others, but to cause us as human beings to think and reflect as well. In keeping with my New Years Resolution (yes, still going ), which was to not judge, not jump to decisions and to be careful with the things that were said lest they hurt as words and comments bite more than one knows. Even more so in this electronic world where we are truly adrift… unknowing of the 90% of communication, and just how valuable this is.

All of the rate, tone, pitch, expressions, eye contact, muscular expressions etc. Also reflecting over the past several weeks on why such negative comes to such beautiful people and how in a heartbeat masks are discarded and inner rage can predominate what was once a relationship of love. Reflections on when there are acts of kindness commenced that why do people personalize these events and claim there is unfairness and inequity. Complain and shut down the pipeline of aid instead of trying to network with the pipeline of joy that radiates out even more. Be positive besides positively demoralizing. I believe this will occur more and more in this electronic world devoid of non-verbal human touch and also as the ability to rip off that mask, express oneself and have ZERO accountability enhances. We are not acting as tigers in such ways, but that of jackals.

Bad things happen to good people and very inspired individuals and great opportunities are given to those that may not seem deserving. I see the opportunities lie here in leveling the playing field. Spirituality is a wonderful way to achieve that objective. I have enough belief and been a fortunate recipient by my wonderful parents and families who always did the best they could with what they had at the time in love, life and empowerment that that might actually happen. Reframing our thoughts and knowledge and being open vs. entitled helps a great deal with that objective.

We are then able and willing (and wanting) to step and aid, even in a small way with my gifts that I have been given to step up to the plate and aid a hero that is in need. Someone that is having a challenge, a good person and needing a stabilizing arm. That I believe we can all offer and help them stand up and brush the dirt from the road off their clothing and watch as they start to progress and shine again. There are sadly very many of them out there. The people that have been blinded, crippled and or beat by societal demands and dictates. Yet these people deserve and want and need to practice and live with pride and integrity in the way they know and understand. Without Judgement or assumptions that hinder and hamper aid. The heroes that give their time and resources to help less fortunate and bolster their potentially fragile egos and feelings and show them some in the world DO care.

The person that we look to isnt the people at the top of the societal game usually. As stated by the late Harry Chapin, Rich people are too busy hanging on to their wealth and items and possessions, no matter how they got them. The poor person is struggling to make ends meet, yet in my experience those that give and help are those that ARE at a more dis-advantaged state. They give of time, love, caring and experiences.

Maybe, just maybe what really matters at the end of the day isnt how much money I have, the car I drive, a house on the lake and my symbols and trapping of status. Heck, it didn’t work too well in Sodom and Gomorrah did it. Ouch. Maybe we are creating that psychopathology again, I don’t know and will save that for a theological discussion one day. This time the invisible webs that are reinforcing the Towers of Babel are held up by fiber optic cables and a mask of denial, a false golden calf that we have all strived to worship and achieve in the sense of the great god of Economics.

Where did we lose our definition of a hero and leader? Where did these individuals go? I had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer and present at a moving ceremony in the cool wind of a man who gave his life to save 2 others 70 years ago over Lake Erie. One man and LAC Spooner gave his so others could survive. These stories abound and the reflections I had the privilege to deliver that esteemed group related to the fact that “Freedom is NOT free” and also the fact from a previous blog that states we have gone from the “All Seeing I” to the “All SeeKING I”. We have totally lost our moral compass, or at least gone off course somewhere since the days of Victoria.

What is REALLY important is being true to your belief system and standing by it 110%, not backbiting others and integrity/consistency. Put that money where your mouth is. At the end of the day, none of us get out alive in this realm.

So at the end of this exercise…what are MY deliverables? I want the opportunity and joy of a smile, to have helped another and feel the experiences that exist in my own backyard of life. At the end of the day, that kind word, effort even in communications that are not face-to-face, smile and experience is what is remembered. To be otherwise is to be dis-connected with who we are. That creates dis-ease. Personally, I will have Nunavut. I would rather spend my time and energies with those that can advance that same curve and pay it forward. But to do that, we must know ourselves fearlessly, pay it forward, and put our currency where our mouth is. To know yourself, you must be yourself, often.

Good morning said a woman as she walked up to the man sitting on the ground.

The man slowly looked up.

This was a woman clearly accustomed to the finer things of life. Her coat was new.. She looked like she had never missed a meal in her life.

His first thought was that she wanted to make fun of him, like so many others had done before.. “Leave me alone,” he growled….

To his amazement, the woman continued standing.

She was smiling — her even white teeth displayed in dazzling rows. “Are you hungry?” she asked.

“No,” he answered sarcastically. “I’ve just come from dining with the president. Now go away.”

The woman’s smile became even broader. Suddenly the man felt a gentle hand under his arm.

“What are you doing, lady?” the man asked angrily. “I said to leave me alone.

Just then a policeman came up. “Is there any problem, ma’am?” he asked..

“No problem here, officer,” the woman answered. “I’m just trying to get this man to his feet. Will you help me?”

The officer scratched his head. “That’s old Jack. He’s been a fixture around here for a couple of years. What do you want with him?”

“See that cafeteria over there?” she asked. “I’m going to get him something to eat and get him out of the cold for awhile.”

“Are you crazy, lady?” the homeless man resisted. “I don’t want to go in there!” Then he felt strong hands grab his other arm and lift him up. “Let me go, officer. I didn’t do anything.”

“This is a good deal for you, Jack” the officer answered. “Don’t blow it..”

Finally, and with some difficulty, the woman and the police officer got Jack into the cafeteria and sat him at a table in a remote corner. It was the middle of the morning, so most of the breakfast crowd had already left and the lunch bunch had not yet arrived…

The manager strode across the cafeteria and stood by his table. “What’s going on here, officer?” he asked. “What is all this, is this man in trouble?”

“This lady brought this man in here to be fed,” the policeman answered.

“Not in here!” the manager replied angrily. “Having a person like that here is bad for business..”

Old Jack smiled a toothless grin. “See, lady. I told you so. Now if you’ll let me go. I didn’t want to come here in the first place.”

The woman turned to the cafeteria manager and smiled……. “Sir, are you familiar with Eddy and Associates, the banking firm down the street?”

“Of course I am,” the manager answered impatiently. “They hold their weekly meetings in one of my banquet rooms.”

“And do you make a godly amount of money providing food at these weekly meetings?”

“What business is that of yours?”

I, sir, am Penelope Eddy, president and CEO of the company.”

“Oh.”

The woman smiled again. “I thought that might make a difference.” She glanced at the cop who was busy stifling a giggle. “Would you like to join us in a cup of coffee and a meal, officer?”

“No thanks, ma’am,” the officer replied. “I’m on duty.”

“Then, perhaps, a cup of coffee to go?”

“Yes, ma’am. That would be very nice.”

The cafeteria manager turned on his heel, “I’ll get your coffee for you right away, officer.”

The officer watched him walk away. “You certainly put him in his place,” he said.

“That was not my intent. Believe it or not, I have a reason for all this.”

She sat down at the table across from her amazed dinner guest. She stared at him intently.. “Jack, do you remember me?”

Old Jack searched her face with his old, rheumy eyes. “I think so — I mean you do look familiar.”

“I’m a little older perhaps,” she said. “Maybe I’ve even filled out more than in my younger days when you worked here, and I came through that very door, cold and hungry.”

“Ma’am?” the officer said questioningly. He couldn’t believe that such a magnificently turned out woman could ever have been hungry.

“I was just out of college,” the woman began. “I had come to the city looking for a job, but I couldn’t find anything. Finally I was down to my last few cents and had been kicked out of my apartment. I walked the streets for days. It was February and I was cold and nearly starving. I saw this place and walked in on the off chance that I could get something to eat.”

Jack lit up with a smile. “Now I remember,” he said.. “I was behind the serving counter. You came up and asked me if you could work for something to eat. I said that it was against company policy.”

“I know,” the woman continued. “Then you made me the biggest roast beef sandwich that I had ever seen, gave me a cup of coffee, and told me to go over to a corner table and enjoy it. I was afraid that you would get into trouble… Then, when I looked over and saw you put the price of my food in the cash register, I knew then that everything would be all right.”

“So you started your own business?” Old Jack said.

“I got a job that very afternoon. I worked my way up. Eventually I started my own business that, with the help of God, prospered.” She opened her purse and pulled out a business card.. “When you are finished here, I want you to pay a visit to a Mr. Lyons…He’s the personnel director of my company. I’ll go talk to him now and I’m certain he’ll find something for you to do around the office.” She smiled. “I think he might even find the funds to give you a little advance so that you can buy some clothes and get a place to live until you get on your feet… If you ever need anything, my door is always opened to you.”

There were tears in the old man’s eyes. “How can I ever thank you?” he said.

“Don’t thank me,” the woman answered. “To God goes the glory. Thank Jesus…… He led me to you.”

Outside the cafeteria, the officer and the woman paused at the entrance before going their separate ways….

“Thank you for all your help, officer,” she said.

“On the contrary, Ms. Eddy,” he answered. “Thank you. I saw a miracle today, something that I will never forget. And.. And thank you for the coffee.”

“Lessons From Two Components of Mothering”

Greetings my gentle readers to another week’s installment of the “Be Yourself, Often” blog at http://www.joelwlamoure.com . Hopefully, this is a point of time in the week where we can sit back and appreciate the privilege of being here in the sanctity of the moment. For indeed, if we do not believe that each moment in itself is sacred, and I do not believe it is possible to anybody else will be able to convince us otherwise.

Around the world today is Mother’s Day. No matter who you are if you are on this planet then you have a mother. This is one of the consistent practice of life that transcend race, color, creed and ideologies. And hopefully, no matter what you see in others, your mother remains and will be the best and brightest light in your life.

A mother is a very interesting individual for the fact that they are able to carry us through to birth and then nurture and teach us nurturing is a miracle in itself. If one wants to reflect on a true Higher Spirit, looking at the miracle of becoming a mother is proof in my mind of a Divine intervention. In the true concepts of motherhood, there is the delivery after carrying a new life across nine months. During this time, a woman is a medical miracle in the point that she has two beating hearts, four legs, four arms, four eyes, and two completely different sets of DNA that coexist within the same body. As stated, that is a medical miracle on so many levels.

To carry this to the next level, this is only one component of motherhood. Even individuals who have not been a mother in the sense of having given birth to a child are mothers in so many other ways and rights. These mothers as well we must hold up today on this very special moment. That is because a mother as well [Mommy) gives of herself in perhaps the most all true mystical and altruistic components.

Of note, men can have mothering traits in the sense of giving and inspirations but there is the delineation that exists right from Biblical times of man and woman, which we shall support here.

Historically across time, there is the nurture component that augments and complements the nature component. These altruistic gifts of time and love are not often appropriately appreciated or captured. These often are related to moments of teaching and kind thoughts to be able to help leverage an individual, animal , plant or mineral (all forms of nature) ahead. I believe that true mothering is a combination of an intelligent love and concern for others when coupled with a strong root belief system in stewardship and respect of how everything interfaces together. It is accepting without judgement the days of good and bad and using these learnings to leverage to the next day so the one that is learning (and as well the mother) both benefit from this symbiotic relationship. A gift…the present.

And with this not be an incredible thing to teach? And even more so, an incredible thing to learn. We tend to call this “Mother Earth” or “Mother Nature” in part because of the stewardship and appreciation of the fine lines and shadows that cross every living creature on this planet. In fact, some mothers have an appreciation of how this planet interfaces with the world of metaphysics beyond. To step back to the here and now, perhaps we can learn from true mothering as we progress through our days. We can learn to have a soft kiss and embrace on everything that we do. Intriguingly, capital or corporal punishment is rarely effective beyond creation of walls of fear.

Maybe we as a human race can learn from the teachers of motherhood [nature and nurture components) who are the leaders in the field, and who we are celebrating today to practice in a more gentle way. A way not of harsh words or judgment, but the way of gentle embrace. Perhaps then as a race we would not be so surprised when we ourselves (with no one to blame) make judgments of folly and see negative outcomes come into our path, wondering why we always get the negative end of the stick and then demand a recount, a better mark. This is a problem of pathology if the person repeats this over and over (we all know these toxic souls and mercy to them) and to expect a different outcome is well….insanity coupled with a lamentable lack of insight they can overcome. For if we are approaching up front without judgment, malice and respect the insights of these higher powers (like a true mother), then perhaps (likely) our end results will become better and brighter.

I can only hope that humankind will consider these ideas because as we are progressing, this is antithetical to true motherhood. We are experiencing and going through a de facto insanity as a society currently. Expecting everything, giving nothing, anonymously judging and wrapped in conspiracies and when we get nothing that we had hoped for and then becoming disappointed. This makes us angry. Who ever told us we were so darn entitled? Not those very wise persons as we define mothering, that soul who gives and gives to the person she brought life to (metaphysically or physically or spiritually). Motherhood is perfect awareness and translation of talents to achieve stronger outcomes in their young, always striving for better in mankind. Mothering is also about forgiving and even when you dont like the person’s actions, still loving them. I have been very lucky if I use these definitions and thanks to my own Mother for these insights. <3

We have the ability to be as Christ in image but actions sadly detract from the wonderful creatures of light that we are. It is a sad dichotomy because we sanitize our hands and sanitize our lives and are not able to embrace the fact life has a beautiful balance of dichotomies. Play and work, light and dark. We can be and do so much more through the kindness given in altruistic ways…mothering.

Perhaps if we were two learn from the true concepts of mothering and stewardship of the nature and nurture components then we can advance ourselves and ultimately through osmosis impact positively on all. You can truly be yourself, often.

Rev. Alan DuBrul OSM., is an ordained Minister with and an appointed Bishop by the Universal Life Church World Headquarters. The Most Reverend Alan DuBrul studied at The University of Kansas and Saint Michael University – University of Toronto. The Most Reverend Alan DuBrul is also Pastor of the Life Church of Springfield, Missouri, https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Christian-Life-Church-of-Springfield/185540101524524?fref=ts Before becoming a Minister, his eminence was a Lieutenant Deputy Sheriff with the Wyandotte County Sheriffs Office in Kansas City, MO. Among his most favorite quotations are as follows: “I’m the GOD fearing, Flag waving, Gun totting Conservative you were warned about!” and Psalm 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose GOD is the Lord, and the people HE hath chosen for HIS inheritance”
Sometimes we are shown a person with tremendous insight and a strong desire to share the word of the Lord. Sometimes that person is destined to be in the view of millions. Thank You Lord for bringing this man forward.

An evening with Phil Robertson: a glimpse into the life of the Duck Dynasty patriarch

For those who tune in regularly to the hit cable television show “Duck Dynasty,” Phil Robertson is easily recognizable as the patriarch of a bearded clan of Louisiana woodsmen, including his sons, Jase, Willie, Jep and zany Uncle Si.

Robertson paid a visit to Western New York last Saturday night for an event sponsored by the Bow Bending Believers, a group of Christian archers based in Medina with a number of Genesee County residents among its ranks. Bow Bending Believers is a branch of the Christian Bowhunters of America. As a large turnout was expected, Ridgeway Baptist Church provided the use of its sanctuary for the evening and upwards of 800 people came to hear Phil Robertson’s message.

During the meet-and-greet segment of the evening (that’s Josh Harloff, of Oakfield, with Phil Robertson) two large screens on either side of the stage displayed videos of the Duck Dynasty clan doing what they do best — hunting ducks amid the flooded timber of Louisiana’s bayou. The video repeatedly depicted Phil, Jase, Willie and Si Robertson hunkered down and scanning the sky, then working the duck calls which made Duck Commander a hot commodity. Not surprisingly, large numbers of mallards, pintails and wood ducks began rapidly winging into range. Suffice to say, it was easy to see why the Robertson family often dines on duck gumbo.

A powerful and dynamic speaker, Phil Robertson shared his testimony, including playing football at Louisiana Tech where he was the starting quarterback in the mid-’60s. During one game, after having thrown a long touchdown pass, he thought to himself, “Yeah, this is fun, but I’d rather be hunting ducks.” He quit shortly thereafter and his understudy, a fellow named Terry Bradshaw, took over. In his autobiography, “It’s Only a Game,” Bradshaw said “The quarterback playing ahead of me, Phil Robertson, loved hunting more than he loved football. He’d come to practice directly from the woods, squirrel tails hanging out of his pockets, duck feathers on his clothes. Clearly he was a fine shot so no one complained too much.”

Universal Life Church World Headquarters http://www.ulcnetwork.com

Alan Robertson, on the right in photo above, is Phil’s oldest son and the only clean-shaven of his siblings. He’s an ordained minister in West Monroe, La., and before introducing his father on this evening, he told the audience how his parents bumped into Bradshaw at the Los Angeles airport. The two former teammates hadn’t seen each other for 44 years but that didn’t stop Bradshaw from giving his former mentor a big bear hug. Bradshaw then went on to tell his old pal of all the injuries he had sustained during his playing career, to which Phil replied, “I do believe I made the right career decision.” His family owned company, Duck Commander game calls, recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Once out of football and pursuing the outdoor activities he loved, life wasn’t without its rough patches for Phil Robertson and his young wife. He and Kay married in 1966 and for a few years he went on living as though he were a bachelor. “Miss Kay,” as she is known to millions of viewers, laid down the law one day in those early years of their marriage and it was around that time Phil made what he says was the best decision of his life when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

On this evening, after being greeted with an enthusiastic standing ovation, one of the first things he did after stepping to the podium was take his worn and well-used Bible from his camo rucksack. And for over an hour the 800 men, woman and children were enrapt as the Duck Dynasty patriarch shared a message of faith, family and the United States of America. His theme for much of the evening was adversity — whether on a national or individual level — is often the result of disobedience. He spoke of the dangers and consequences resulting from neglecting God’s word and putting the Ten Commandments on a shelf. His statements were not based on conjecture but rather a strong foundation of faith.

After listening to Phil Robertson, I felt as though I had just heard a combination of John the Baptist and Thomas Jefferson. Obviously, he’s quick to share his faith, love of family and country — in that order. And it came as no surprise that those in attendance gave Phil Robertson another standing ovation as he concluded his talk.

(Reverend Alan)

Hope you are well and that blessings abound in your life. Mine’s been crazy. We are moving for the first time in 30 years. My mother-in-law will be coming to stay with us. She’s 83, has some health problems and wants to spend what time God grants her near her grandchildren and great-grandson. We will be building a casitia on the property for her. In the mean time, I’m having to remember all the things to do to get ready besides pack. It’ll be good in the long run, though. The move will happen in mid-June.

Take care and love, peace and blessings to you and yours
Easter Wednesday, 03 April, 2013

I like mysteries. I especially like those mysteries when a bad guy hides right out in the open. Often, a disguise, or maybe a lack thereof, prevents the good guy from finding the bad guy. Usually, things go along well for the bad guy until he does something that causes the good guy to associate the bad guy with the nefarious acts performed by the bad guy’s alter ego. Usually, the good guy ends up putting the pieces of the puzzle together and winds up catching the bad guy. Then, quite often, the story ends.

Maybe I like today’s Gospel story about the two disciples walking with Jesus on the road to Emmaus because it reminds me of those mysteries that I like so much. The disciples invite Jesus to eat with them after Jesus spent a good part of the journey explaining the Scriptures about himself to them. It was only when Jesus did something that they associated with Jesus, the breaking of bread, were they able to recognize him.

It was at the table where Jesus did quite a bit of his best work. Through his table talk, Jesus revealed to his listeners, in a number of different ways, the Kingdom of God and all of its wonders. Today, in the celebration of the Eucharist, the Paschal Mystery of Jesus lets us participate in the table ministry of Jesus. We do this through our own table talk, the telling of our story in Scripture and, I hope, in preaching. We also come to recognize Jesus once again in the breaking of the bread and the sharing of the meal, much as like what happened in the Gospel story.

There is, however, another part of the story that always catches my attention. It”s that line where the disciples say, after Jesus disappears from their sight,“Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?” Let me ask: do you remember the last time your heart burned like the hearts of those disciples? I do. In fact, I can give you the precise date when last I felt my heart burn. That date was 16 November,2012. On that evening, a dear priest friend of mine and I went to see my friend, classmate composer and prophet Rory Cooney in concert. Rory’s music artfully and authentically reveals the Kingdom to his listeners’ hearts and souls through beautiful melodies and lyrics that paint vivid pictures. In fact, I remember, that when the concert was over, my friend saying to me, “I’ve been to church”. Her heart was on fire, as was mine. What a testament to the power and the vision and the beauty of Rory’s music.

Fast forward to today’s Gospel and the statement that grabs my attention. Here I am, a baptized Christian, an ordained priest and a bishop charged with carrying the Gospel to all nations, a person for whom the Paschal Mystery of Jesus is, or should be, the focal point of life, and my heart is often a dying ember at best. It shames me to admit this, but I’d be dishonest if I didn’t do so.

I remember driving along with my wife when I shared this with her and wondered why my heart wasn’t aflame with the love of Christ. As usual, she was direct and right on target when she told me that I had too much in the way, too many things that were keeping me from being able to embrace the presence of the Holy Spirit to set my heart aflame. She told me that the Spirit was there, I just didn’t notice.

That moment was, in itself, a moment of grace, the grace of the Sacrament we have shared for 34 years alive in my wife and her sharing that life with me and I with her. Like I said before, she was right on target.

There are so many distractions in this world of ours, things that draw attention from the presence of the Holy Spirit within us and one another. I know I find myself living as if in a fog, totally unaware of the awesomeness of creation itself, a creation brought into being by the Word of God, a word that became flesh and lived and died as one of us in order to show us all exactly what it was we all were missing, even though it was surrounding us in plain sight.

I know I anger easily and that my anger keeps me from embracing the Spirit in a particular moment because I’m so focused on what angered me that nothing else around me, or within me, exists. There are so many other things that I do, the normal things of living life, that seem to pull me away from what’s really important. The problem became, for me, one of how to live life in this world, taking care of my family, doing my job and all those other things that are just apart of life in the world while, at the same time, being open to and aware of and thankful for a God that loves and forgives and heals and asks nothing in return.

What a gift God gives us, this life we live. Each moment bursts with grace. Every action, every thought, every part of creation explodes with holiness. The only thing making life’s events or creations unholy are those unwilling or unable to recognize the holiness that life is, the revelation that life is. Nothing is created profane; it is we who profane creation.

I’d like to be able to tell you that I am constantly aflame with the fire of the Spirit since thinking these things through, but I’m not. I am, however, a bit warmer. Life still drags me away to things that I must attend to, but I approach those things a bit differently now. I embrace what is for what it truly is: a part of life, a moment pregnant with grace and bringing into the world the presence of God who dwells with and in his creation and has since the dawn of creation. No, my heart doesn’t burn all of the time just like I don’t remember each moment as a moment of grace all of the time. When I do act like each moment is the moment of grace that it is, the fire indeed burns brightly within me. When I don’t remember, well, I have been given the grace to look back upon my actions. I’ve been given the grace to give thanks for this amazing life and to embrace the loving mercy showered upon me and upon all of us each and every moment of it. I’ve been given the grace to cherish even more those moments when my heart does burn with the fire of the Holy Spirit and to play my part in the greatest mystery story of all: the mystery of unconditional, unbounded and eternal love that is our God.
–
——————————————————

Fr Keith Black is an ordained Independent Catholic Priest through the Universal Life Church World Headquarters. Fr. Keith like any other priest leads a congregation. Fr. Keith is also a gifted writer and speaker as you will see in his blog contribution captioned below. Fr. Keith like anyone else in his position received a calling to become ordained as his vocation. The difference between Fr Keith and anyone else is his gift to overcome his blindness, Fr Keith is completely blind. Fr Keith could use his blindness as a crutch, but instead he uses it as a source of inspiration to others and to enhance his other attributes that truly makes him something so very special. The Universal Life Church World Headquarters is very proud to have this young man as part of our clergy.

Evening and Morning
Fr. Keith Black Jr.

Evening and Morning
In Him By Him Through Him

Gen 1:1-5 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

The progression of events on God’s Calendar is simply this, it gets better and better.

No matter how bad it may seem, the end result is that we can rest in the fact that there is a great punch line. From our Human Perspective is summed up in statements like.

It’s all down hill from here,
Over the Hill.
It don’t get any better than that, The Good Old Days.

We live in a mindset that the past was Glorious and the Future is Gloomy.

Why do we feel that way? Because that is what we see. That is what many of you have experienced. In fact we can look in the mirror and see some evidence that this may be true. Just let me clue you in, that is Stinking Thinking.

God’s View is Evening and Morning. No matter the darkness that approaches there is a New Day Coming.

In the last Supper Jesus warned them that dark days approached. I can see the overcast sky and the night quickly approaching as they entered into that Fateful Garden for the Last time. This place that was the common place of prayer in the Life of Christ, we find it to be place of an origination of a sequence of events that would catapult the world into the Darkest of Times. As

As his Disciples slept, Jesus Prayed. He prayed like a man with a death sentence. As he finished praying one of his trusted followers approached him, kissed him and in that action betrayed him. As his disciples melted into the darkness to escape the obvious trouble, Jesus was led forth. In that darkness of that Night, one of his Bold Disciples denied him. No sooner had this dark moment came, the sun broke over the horizon in that the Rooster began to crow.

Jesus is passed around the thrones of power like a hot potato; no one wanting to be responsible for what they knew must be done. Even the Jewish High priest prophesied that a Man would die for the Jews.

When an opportunity to give their King a crown of acceptance they with one voice rejected him and damned him to die a death of unspeakable cruelty.

As Pilate washed his hands of Jesus, Jesus began to endure an amazing example of what love he had for you. As the day waned, we find Jesus struggling under the load of a cruel tree. When he finally is nailed on and lifted up, and his death rapidly approaches, Jesus forgives his persecutors and promises paradise to a thief.

The Darkness of death is so great; we cannot even perceive what it is. No one wants to die. No one wants someone they Love to die. Imagine when the Man that represented all your Faith, and that Man died a Humiliating and Shameful Death.

Darkness.

We must Remind ourselves, it is Evening and Morning.

We spend our time in the middle of Evening and Morning. In that unsettled place of Darkness. To truly appreciate the Light, you must experience the darkness of Night.

Truly Jesus Rose from the Dead. After 40 Days walking, talking and showing himself, he went away. He left. He was taken up and his promise was. I am coming back.

We are living in the middle of Evening and Morning. The principle of Christ, found in his teaching and his passion is that it gets better.

When the prophets of doom and gloom forecast that the worst is coming, be of good cheer. We must be able to see past the obvious future and see the future that Faith brings.

Will we have trouble? Will there be great controversy? Will we be tried and tempted? Will we suffer in some manner?

Jesus is the ultimate object lesson for you and I.

The answer to all of these questions is you. However, we must stretch our faith to see the founder of all there is and know that God sees beyond our Evening and night. You know what he sees? He sees morning.

Weeping may endure for the night, but Joy comes in the Morning.

“Freedom is Not Free”

Greetings my gentle readers to another week’s installment of the “Be Yourself, Often” blog at http://www.joelwlamoure.com . Hopefully, this is a point of time in the week where we can sit back and appreciate the privilege of being here in the sanctity of the moment. For indeed, if we do not believe that each moment in itself is sacred, and I do not believe it is possible to anybody else will be able to convince us otherwise. Reflecting on this statement, it comes to show exactly the weight of the moments of the days before, the decisions of the been made, the beliefs that have been translated into actions that allow us the opportunity to be exactly where we are. A time indeed of remembrance.

And indeed, where we are is exactly where we are meant to be. It is by virtue of our beliefs that drive our thoughts, which drive our thought processes, which trigger neurochemical changes in our brain in order to stimulate bodily transmitters that allow us to translate thought into action. It is you the gifts and actions of spirituality and karmic energies that will translate our actions into outcomes. As we stop and think about these conceptualizations, we realize that absolutely everything that we do as a spiritual route with in it. I do not believe that we are able to have positive outcomes if we only put negatives into the equation. While this may occur for a short length of time, across the months and years inherently this will catch up with an individual. Unhappy with your job? Complaining about everything not going your way? Why then, are you surprised when your job is lost, your friends leave because they have heard this same complaint over and over again, and you are left alone. Sadly, this becomes the self-driven prophecy.

Going down this theory, in order to achieve freedom, we must be willing to make a stand for what we believe in. Freedom, as it is well stated, is not free. It is an end result of making a stand for what we believe in, rooted in thoughts and spirituality, which ultimately define and drive our actions. Freedom is not about merely speaking, but about being willing to stand with conviction for what you believe in. Ideally, freedom would be interspersed and as human beings we would be willing and able to understand each other’s perceptions and as such could achieve freedom at a larger scale.

Indeed, do you not think that is possible? Even though we as human beings are different and have different thought processes, it is possible that some of the thoughts may overlap and be able to enrich in others lives if we were willing to take off blinders. For wit, to allow the scales to drop from our eyes. However, it is very difficult to be able to be willing to understand, much less accept, another person’s point of view in the face of hostility. In true human nature, and in order to achieve and strive for freedom, sometimes stand needs to be taken. But what a better world this could be if we were able purely to be able to understand and appreciate each other’s differences and dovetail it into our own.

This is where we see that we are different. If all individuals were full of love, light, peace and the desire to advance humankind then we would not have the negative outcomes that we see. Positive outcomes usually appear in the form of the structuring of a cultural identity, way of life or meaningful representation of Spirit in an earthly form. This is where the dark side of humanity eclipses the positive radiance that is able [and should] be emanating like a beacon from each and every one of us. From a scientific, educational, cultural organizational perspective when each and every one of us are at our brightest it advances a culture and from a heritage conceptualization defines our history. It is most unfortunate that hatred, darkness, warmongering often denigrates humankind and produces the negative outcomes that we observe.

Our history and our past is defined by individuals and their root belief systems that have translated across the decades, centuries, and indeed millennium to bring forth the ideally creature of light that is reading this currently.

How free are you? It is better to aim for the stars, and be allowed and able to do so, and to miss then to never try. We have that ability to advance ourselves through this experimentation that we call life. Never trying, or facing repression is like having the wings bound. We never get the chance to try the fly. And that, my gentle readers is a horrible place to be, meaning that we are missing out on the gifts and sacrifices of the days and years past, indeed our own efforts. For in this journey of flight we want you to be yourself, often.

It is Not a Religion It Is a Killing Machine
Seldom do I denounce another Religion, however I do not view satanism, paganism, atheism or for that matter the muslim faith or the religion of islam as a Religion. The latter is a cult based on hatred, wars and killing. It is not a religion of peace as they attempt to pass off. Anyone who says muslims or the religion of islam is a religion of peace, they simply do not know what they are talking about or they are a part of the muslim’s hidden agenda to take over and to rule the world, implementing sharia law. They say: Death to the infidel, the infidel being anyone who does not become muslim and practice the religion of islam.

The Koran (Quran) is not a “Holy Book” it is a book filled with evil, lending credibility to Muhammed’s own interpretation of himself that he was insane. I do not know if it was insanity, or it was just a man with a big ego, self absorbed or maybe so naive rationality was an impossibility. Lets try it was a complete fabrication by Muhammad, or the alternative it certainly was not Michael or Gabriel who delivered messages to Muhammad from God (Allah), but rather it was Lucifer delivering messages to him from satan. People – Please read and educate yourselves about the Muslim Faith, the Religion of Islam the alleged Religion of peace http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/quran/023-violence.htm This is just one of many articles or resources available to you through Google. Supporters will tell you it is a Religion of peace, but the Koran is a book of sorcery a handbook to kill and to commit evil. Do not be afraid of satan, strengthen your individual relationship in Christ and will protect you and as he promised he will destroy the evil.

The Universal Life Church World Headquarters we have our fight with evil as well, one of which is with the Kirby Hensley Universal Life Church of Modesto, California that began as Life Church in 1959 and has splintered into other spin-offs through the years, such as the ULC Seminary of California or the ULC Monastery of Tucson, AZ. An organization that bragged about ordaining the founder of the American Atheists, Madalyn Murray O’ Hair, an organization that does not ordain anyone within a specific doctrine of faith, but an organization nonetheless that embraces and supports satanism, islam, atheism, paganism and others. Granted though they only offer an ordination not within any one faith that allows their ministers to do just one thing over and above the allowances to every American within the First Amendment (performs marriage ceremonies in some of the US States), many who are ordained are not knowledgeable and they think they are real faith based ministers ordained within their faith.

To the leaders of the other Universal Life Churches, to your spin-offs and to those of the muslim faith or who follow satanism, atheism, paganism I pray you find Christ. Whatever has happened to you in life that has led you on the pathway you have followed, I only sympathize. People I had my issues as a child, but I didn’t go out and threaten suicide or runaway from my family, I used the issues I faced to strengthen my relationship with Christ, to make me stronger and to allow me to fill my destiny.

Top Ten Cities For Top Income Earned Per Year
Many Americans aspire to earn a six-figure income, but only about one-fifth of the nation’s households succeed. And, according to recent research, those six-figure families tend to congregate in a handful of cities, such as San Ramon, Calif., where 63.5 percent of the population clears the $100,000 threshold and a full one-quarter earn $200,000 or more.

According to a new analysis of Census data, there are only 16 U.S. cities where more than 50 percent of the households earn six-figure incomes. Here is the top 10.

1. San Ramon, Calif. 63.5 percent of the city’s households boasting annual income exceeding $100,000 — and one-quarter earning $200,000 or more

2. Flower Mound, Texas 62.8 percent of households taking home more than $100,000 and 18.6 percent earning $200,000 or more.

3. Pleasanton, Calif. 59.8 percent of its residents earn over $100,000 and 22.3 percent earn more than $200,000.

4. Yorba Linda, Calif. 58.8 percent of its residents earn upwards of $100,000 and 18.6 percent earn $200,000 or more.

5. Carmel, Ind. 58.4 percent of households earning over $100,000 and 23.2% earning over $200,000.

6. Palo Alto, Calif. 57.8 percent of its households take home more than $100,000 and 28.2 percent earn more than $200,000.

7. Newton, Mass. 55.4 percent of Newton households earn over $100,000 and 25.7 percent pocket more than $200,000 annually.

8. Naperville, Ill. 54.8 percent over $100,000 and 22.8 percent taking home more than $200,000.

9. Frisco, Texas 53.7 percent of Frisco residents earn $100,000 or more and 13.3 percent take home upwards of $200,000.

10. The Woodlands, Texas 53.4 percent of the population earning more than $100,000 and 15.3 percent of the population earning upwards of $200,000.

MONTGOMERY, Minn. – At various times in our lives many of us find ourselves searching.

That time came three years ago for Greg Thomas. “When I found out that I had cancer, they told my family to go ahead and start planning my funeral.”

Diagnosed with stage 4 head and neck cancer at the age of 57, then let go from his propane delivery job, Thomas began passing the hours on long walks from his home alone with his dog and his thoughts.

“It’s a nightmare you can’t wake up out of,” he recalls.

Then the daily walks down a gravel road led him to the wood-framed country church that would change his life.

Though Thomas would have loved to go inside, the doors on the old Catholic church were locked tight.

Thomas wanted desperately to go inside. “I tried it more than once,” he says. But the church was always locked.

Built in 1868 by Czech settlers who later moved to a bigger parish in Montgomery, the Budejovice Church had not been home to a congregation in more than a century.

The foundation was crumbling, the paint peeling, but it was there on the church steps, a man crumbling himself came to pray.

Then one day the stranger on the steps walked next door.

“He went to the neighbor and said he wanted to paint the church, and who does he talk to, so the neighbor sent him to talk to me,” is the way Don Rynda recollects his first meeting with Thomas.

As treasurer of the foundation that keeps up the church cemetery, Rynda could barely believe it.

Before Thomas climbed a ladder and went to work, Rynda had feared the church’s days might be numbered. “It was a godsend, yes,” says Rynda.

One hundred and forty years worth of paint – 15 layers thick in places – came peeling off as Thomas worked through the lingering effects of radiation and chemotherapy that robbed him of his energy, his saliva glands and his teeth.

“I’ve been on a feeding tube now for three years,” says Thomas, lifting his shirt, “and this is how I feed myself.”

Before Thomas started painting, he asked for a key to the locked church. That too is how Thomas now feeds himself – spiritually.

“That was the first thing I wanted to try when I walked in here is to see if the bell still worked,” he says, reaching for the rope. “It still does.”

Inside, Thomas found intact an 1860s interior, complete with wooden pews and Christian statuary – a dust covered museum in need of his care.

“We desperately need a roof,” says Thomas, pointing out rotted wood in both the ceiling and floor.

He looks past both, for a minute and imagines the possibilities. “It’s going to be beautiful.”

A transplant to the area, Thomas has no family ties to the church but to those who do, he’s been a blessing – heaven sent.

“One of the beads on my rosary is reserved for him,” smiles Blanche Zellmer, who has lived near the church for more than 90 years.

For those like Blanche Zellmer, who believe in the power of prayer, this next part will come as no shock: the old church is newly clothed in white and Greg’s cancer is now in remission.

Rynda believes something larger than the church itself is at work. “You can’t help but not think otherwise.”

Tears come as Thomas pauses to consider what has transpired since his diagnosis. “It’s what he’s done for me,” he says, glance toward a statue of Jesus, “and this is my way of saying thank you.”

Once the exterior painting is finished, Thomas has plans for the leaky roof, and then the church’s interior.

He can pray inside now whenever he wants but there’s something about the concrete pew in front of the church doors.

“There’s been a lot of tears shed on these steps and they’ve been tears of joy, tears of pain, but tears of blessings too,” says Thomas, as he wipes away new tears.

Greg Thomas is restoring the old church, that’s true. But it’s hard to discern who’s saving who.

NOTE: Greg Thomas has set up a fund at a local bank to help cover the costs of the needed roof repair and the interior work he’s planning for the church.

Cinco de Mayo celebrates the legendary Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, in which a Mexican force of 4,500 men faced 6,000 well-trained French soldiers. The battle lasted four hours and ended in a victory for the Mexican army under Gen. Ignacio Zaragoza. Along with Mexican Independence Day on Sept. 16, Cinco de Mayo has become a time to celebrate Mexican heritage and culture.

Distribution of Communion – The Eucharist

Communion Is Not Just For Catholics – This is thee most important sacrament.

Luke Chapter 22:19-20…..19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake [it], and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup [is] the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

John Chapter 6:53-58…..53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

1 Corinthians Chapter 11:24-28…..24 And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also [he took] the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink [it], in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink [this] cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of [that] bread, and drink of [that] cup.

There is double digit passages where Communion or the Eucharist is mentioned in the Bible. Now I was raised Roman Catholic and this is a huge issue I have with other denominations that do not make Communion available on a regular basis to its parishioners, but it is not because I was raised Roman Catholic as much as it is what the Bible tells us! How can a Church call itself a Church if they do not offer Communion or the Eucharist? I took these verses from the King James Version, they are not just Catholic. Christ didn’t say for some do it and for some do not do it. Communion and The Eucharist are UNIVERSAL and should be distributed and/or practiced by all Christians.

Folks as a Faith based minister you owe it to yourself, to Christ to those you serve or to those you can elect to serve if you take the initiative to do such. If you think you do not know enough individuals to go through a 100 pack of communion wafers a month (only 25 a week)? You are wearing blinders, 25 wafers a week would accommodate daily Communion for a family of 3.5 which includes you.

If you are a real Faith Based Minister and you are not distributing Holy Communion (The Eucharist) to at least your family, what kind of Minister are you?

We Are The Universal Life Church World Headquarters
Our Minister ID Cards Are Vitally Important To You

Unfortunately the Universal Life Church name has been dragged through the mud by a twice defrocked Christian Minister, Kirby Hensley who in 1959 started Life Church from his garage. In 1962 Hensley took his Universal Party (Flying Saucer Party) merged it with Life Church and incorporated under our Christian Universal Life Church name. Hensley’s church has never had any real doctrine of faith and he start pretty much an ordination assembly line looking to make a buck. Hensley himself on 60 minutes self proclaimed himself to be the Modesto Messiah and also a conman. Hensley who passed away in 1999, many believe by doing so he avoided a lengthy prison sentence. The IRS sanctioned the organization and stripped them of their Church exempt status for 25 years. We are not affiliated with this organization or any other affiliates thereof. This is why our Minister ID Cards are so important, they distinguish our REAL faith based ministers from these other ministers ordained by this non-Christian, no-doctrine entity using our name. Most, including myself do not consider it a Church. More and more county clerks are rejecting ULC Ministers from the Hensley spun Life Church, add to this law enforcement, jails, prisons, hospitals all look for a Minister Picture ID Card. As a result this little plastic card with the 3rd party check mark is one of the most important things you will need many times over. If you lose the card, change addresses or for whatever need a new card, be sure to order such, $25.00 is nothing but a drop in the gas tank (literally). That is a new metaphor courtesy of Brother Michael “$25 IS NOTHING BUT A DROP IN THE GAS TANK!”

We need more of you to come forth. we may not be the NY Times or USA Today, but we have a great deal of credibility and we are viewed as the Number One Seed for all Universal Life Churches. This is a golden opportunity for you to feature your journalist skills. We will proof read all blogs and attempt to make spelling and punctuation corrections, note how I use the word attempt – We are not perfect either. People do not want high tech, over their head blogs. But at the same token, we must do all that we can to limit spelling or punctuation mistakes. We do not edit your blogs contents. As staff journalists may I remind you we are a Church, we are not permitted by law to involve ourselves that deep into political issues, we can touch on them so please use proper discretion. Also let us remember not to insult anyone because of their sexual preference, it is not our place to judge or to police others based on our individual interpretations of the Bible. We are all intelligent professionals, let us act accordingly not only on radio, but with our journalist efforts as well. For those interested, try to submit at least one blog per week, please send it by email or tell us where we can go to copy n’paste it. We will include of picture of you within each blog with a one paragraph bio you chose to submit. We will not change your picture. Why? We want to develop for you an identity and that comes from good journalism and repetition.
